Can you grow hydrangeas in pots

Choose a large enough pot for the mature size of your specific hydrangea – at least 18 inches in diameter.

Look for non-porous containers to help hold the consistent moisture level require by hydrangeas.

Drainage holes will allow excess water to drain properly. Consider planting dwarf hydrangeas, such as Little Lime, Mini Penny and Buttons ‘n Bows.

It is better to use a good quality soil with organic matter than it is to use ordinary garden soil. The hydrangea should be planted at the same level as it was when it was in its original pot.

Water your hydrangea thoroughly when the top inch or so of the mix feels dry. It's a good idea to check them every day since they can be stressed if you don't drink when they need a drink.

If you want to feed your plants once or twice a year, you can use a slow-release balanced Fertilizer or composted manure.

New growth can be encouraged by cutting off the flowers after they have finished.
